The ILCA sailing dinghy is the world’s most popular adult racing class boat.
True to one-design standards, each ILCA in the world is identical ensuring the best sailor on the water wins the race, not the boat. The ILCA is a challenging boat that rewards athleticism, subtle steering and trimming techniques. However, the tactical excellence of the sailor also plays a factor. The ILCA dinghy is raced by young and old alike from the Club level all the way to the Olympics.
The ILCA sailing dinghy is class-legal for all National and International events. If you would like to read more about debunking the ILCA/Laser jargon, please head to our article on the blog page.
Which rig is right for me?
Time to jump on the weighing scales! If you are new to the class, you need to have a look at the weight ranges for each rig size.
ILCA 4 (formerly Laser 4.7) weight range is 45kg -60kg
ILCA 6 (formerly Laser Radial) weight range is 60-75kg
ILCA 7 (formerly Laser Standard) weight range is 75-90kg
The ILCA comes with a Harken fit out as standard. Carbon upgrade options are available for the Top Section, Bottom Section (ILCA 6 only) and Tiller & Tiller Extension. The team at Sailingfast have worked closely with the Laser Class since 2002. We offer new and used boats, a part exchange service and a sail-numbering service. The Sailingfast mobile chandlery trailer supplies support at key regattas and sailing events.

Sailing is a total experience. With superb sail handling the good experience easily turns into a passion.
There are many factors like wind, waves and currents a sailor can’t change. But you can do something about them. That’s why rig equipment should always be chosen with the outmost care, in order to get the most out of it and get the right feel for wind and tuning. The better the precision of your equipment, the better the feel. Sails, mast, standing and running rigging work together as one single unit. If you want to be on top, you can’t afford to leave anything to chance.
In their search for perfection, no detail is considered too small. This applies to everything, from the choice of materials to stringent testing of the finished product.
Seldén’s business philosophy can be summed up as quality thinking and system thinking, and a continuous quest to achieve the best possible function for each product.
With a large number of championship medals in the Olympics, World Championships, European Championships and national championships, Seldén has proved to be Number One in rig systems for dinghies, keelboats and yachts. So no matter the size of your boat, whether you push your equipment to the very limit, or just enjoy leisurely cruising, go Seldén and you’ll benefit from reliable top-class gear.
