Description
The V Cleat Halyard Lock is a specialised variation of our standard V cleat, designed specifically for mainsail halyard locking systems on dinghies and other small sailing craft.
Typically mounted directly to the mast, the halyard exits the mast and passes through the V cleat. A knot or swaged ball is positioned on the halyard at the precise point where the mainsail reaches full hoist. Once the sail is raised, the knot or ball is engaged into the V-shaped profile, allowing the halyard to be released while securely locking the sail in position.
This simple yet highly effective system provides a safe and reliable halyard lock that remains secure under load. To lower the sail, simply tension the halyard and pull the knot or ball free from the V profile.
