Description

The North Sails FR-5 mainsail is made with a full radial construction and produces a very smooth and easy to use sail and copes better with the high loads in the corners than a traditional cross cut sail allowing the sail to maintain its racing shape for longer. The FR-5 is a development of the FR-4 and is derived from the FR3 with a little extra fullness in the foot seaming and lower luff round. It offers a good range of ‘gears’ across the wind range. Manufactured from Contender RSQ 4.55 sail cloth.

The FR-5 mainsail is our fuller cut for heavier crews, with extra seam shaping over the FR-3 design providing more power up and downwind. The radial lpanel layout allows accurate shaping where its needed most whilst smoothly dealing with the corner loads in stronger winds. The sail is cut using Contender RSQ4.55 which offers great shape holding and longevity. The sail can be used on all popular mast sections.

NPC CROSS-CUT is a quality-leading dacron sailcloth for simple, easy sailing. Sails constructed with CROSS-CUT offer excellent shape holding through a wide range of conditions. Designed and constructed to the North Sail quality standards, CROSS-CUT strikes a balance of high quality and affordability.
