Ideal in situations where care is not always taken to ensure the self bailer has been locked shut before landing the boat. (This is when the self bailer is most likely to get broken). This effectively seals the space for the self bailer. If water then gets into the cockpit you will need to get a hand bailer or sponge to remove the water with this part fitted.
